Description

Hikvision iDS-7208HQHI-M1/FA – 8-ch 1080p 1U H.265 AcuSense DVR

The Hikvision iDS-7208HQHI-M1/FA is an 8-channel Turbo HD digital video recorder that packs facial recognition into a full-size 1U AcuSense chassis. Specifically, it accepts HDTVI, AHD, HDCVI, and CVBS analog inputs adaptively, and it also supports up to 12 IP camera channels when Enhanced IP mode is active. As a result, installers can combine analog and IP cameras across a larger site on one recorder.

Meanwhile, this /FA variant adds face picture comparison and search across up to 16 face libraries holding up to 500 pictures total, with a 1-channel face-comparison alarm on HD analog cameras. In addition, up to four channels support deep-learning behavior analysis, covering line-crossing and intrusion detection. Note that enabling facial recognition disables human/vehicle analysis, and vice versa; the DVR runs only one at a time.

Furthermore, the DVR records full-channel at up to 1080p resolution using efficient H.265 Pro+/H.265 Pro/H.265/H.264+/H.264 compression, which keeps storage costs manageable across 8 channels. On top of that, an RS-485 serial interface enables PTZ control, the DVR backs up footage to third-party cloud storage (Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive), and a single SATA bay holds drives up to 10 TB.

Who This DVR Suits Best

  • Gated estates and offices wanting face-based access alerts – the 16-library face comparison flags known faces or faces on a watch list at entrances, which suits reception areas and estate gates.
  • Spread-out compounds needing long cable runs – 800 m 1080p HDTVI transmission suits large plots, farms, or industrial yards where cameras sit far from the recorder room.
  • Sites wanting offsite backup – built-in Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive support gives owners a second copy of footage beyond the local hard disk.
