Hikvision DS-96128NI-M16 – 128-Channel 3U 8K Network Video Recorder
The Hikvision DS-96128NI-M16 is a 128-channel 3U NVR that suits the largest enterprise deployments needing maximum storage density and redundancy. Specifically, it accepts up to 128 IP camera inputs at resolutions up to 32 MP, and since it carries no onboard PoE ports, all cameras connect through an external network switch. As a result, installers should plan switch infrastructure and cabling separately from the recorder itself.
In addition, the recorder outputs video at up to 8K resolution over HDMI, with a second independent HDMI/VGA pair providing an auxiliary display output. Meanwhile, sixteen hot-plug SATA interfaces accept drives up to 16 TB each, giving up to 256 TB of total on-device storage. Furthermore, RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, and N+M hot spare protect that data against drive failure, while onboard support for people counting, ANPR, and fisheye cameras extends the recorder’s use beyond standard recording. On top of that, extensive alarm I/O and POS integration suit large retail and access-control deployments.

Who This NVR Suits Best
- Large campuses and shopping malls – 128-channel capacity in one chassis suits sites that manage extensive camera coverage from a central control room.
- Facilities needing maximum storage density – sixteen hot-plug SATA bays with up to 256 TB total capacity suit data-heavy sites that can’t fit a second recorder.
- Mission-critical facilities needing data protection – RAID with hot spare support protects footage against multiple drive failures, suiting banks, data centres, and government sites.
