UGREEN USB 3.0 Extension Cable 10m (Black)
The UGREEN USB 3.0 active extension cable 10m (model US175, SKU 20827) is an active repeater extender that stretches a USB-A connection by ten metres while maintaining full SuperSpeed 5Gbps throughput. Unlike passive extension cables, it integrates a FE1.1S signal booster chipset at the female end to regenerate the signal, compensating for the attenuation that makes 10-metre passive USB runs unreliable. It suits AV installers, VR enthusiasts, office IT administrators, and anyone who needs to bridge a USB peripheral across a large room without a powered hub.
Why 10m Requires an Active Cable
The USB 3.0 specification defines a maximum passive cable length of five metres for reliable SuperSpeed operation. Beyond that threshold, signal degradation causes transfer rate drops, intermittent disconnections, and device recognition failures. Consequently, the UGREEN 20827 takes a fundamentally different approach from shorter passive cables in this family: it embeds a dedicated repeater chipset inside the female connector housing, which amplifies and retimes the signal before it reaches the connected device. As a result, the full 10-metre run behaves electrically closer to a direct short-cable connection.
The cable draws bus power from the host port to run the booster chipset in most configurations. However, for power-hungry peripherals that already draw heavily from the USB bus, an auxiliary micro-USB port on the repeater housing accepts a standard 5V micro-USB cable to supply supplementary power independently. This prevents the chipset from competing with the peripheral for current. Note that this product is designed for data transfer only — it does not support device charging, and USB headsets are not compatible with this active design.

Use Cases & Applications
VR and Motion-Capture Setups
VR systems such as the Oculus Rift require tethered USB sensors positioned around the play space. Standard cables rarely reach corner-mounted sensors in medium to large rooms. This active extender carries the signal reliably across a full room width, and it is confirmed compatible with the USB version of the Xbox 360 Kinect and PlayStation 3 Eye camera — both of which demand stable USB 3.0 bandwidth for depth and video data. Note that USB headsets are not supported by this active cable design.
Office and Enterprise Peripheral Placement
In open-plan offices, shared printers, document scanners, and card readers are often positioned centrally to serve multiple workstations. However, running a cable to a desktop more than five metres away rules out passive extensions. This active repeater cable allows a single USB-A host port to serve a peripheral placed across the room, without requiring an externally powered USB hub as an intermediary.
AV Integration and Signage Installations
Digital signage players, WLAN adapters, and USB-connected media controllers frequently need to connect to a host PC positioned in a separate equipment rack or riser. The 10m active cable bridges this distance cleanly, and its triple-layer shielding maintains signal integrity even when routed alongside power conduits and other AV cabling — a common requirement in commercial AV installations.
Home Network and Wi-Fi Antenna Positioning
USB Wi-Fi adapters perform better when elevated or positioned away from interference sources. This cable allows a USB WLAN card to be mounted near a window or ceiling point, up to 10 metres from the host computer, improving line-of-sight to a router without requiring a separate powered USB hub at the antenna end.
