Description

UGREEN Cat 6 U/UTP LAN Cable 15m (Black) – RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Network Lead

The UGREEN Cat 6 Ethernet cable 15m handles extended wired network runs that shorter patch leads cannot reach — spanning adjacent rooms, floor-to-ceiling routes, or open-plan spaces where devices sit a significant distance from the nearest switch or router. It delivers Gigabit Ethernet at up to 1 Gbps across the full 15 m length, operating comfortably within the 100 m maximum specified for Cat 6 U/UTP installations. Furthermore, the Fluke-tested construction and gold-plated RJ45 contacts confirm that performance meets the Cat 6 standard throughout the cable’s rated length.

Use Cases and Applications

Cross-Floor and Multi-Room Home Networking

At 15 m, this cable spans distances that typically involve routing between floors, through internal door frames, or along hallway lengths — scenarios where a wired connection is impractical to achieve with shorter leads but where running in-wall structured cabling is unnecessary or cost-prohibitive. It suits permanent installations connecting a ground-floor router to a first-floor home office, for instance, where the cable runs behind skirting boards or through a cable duct.

Open-Plan Office Workstation Connections

Open-plan offices frequently place workstations 10–15 m from the nearest network cabinet or floor distribution box. The UGREEN Cat 6 Ethernet cable 15m bridges that distance for desktop PCs, VOIP phones, and network-connected peripherals, providing the consistent latency and throughput needed for cloud-based applications, video conferencing, and shared file server access.

IP Camera and Security System Cabling

IP cameras positioned at the periphery of a building or room often require cable runs of 10–20 m to reach the nearest network switch. At 15 m, this cable suits many such installations — however, since IP cameras typically rely on Power over Ethernet (PoE) for power delivery, a solid copper cable is recommended over CCA for PoE runs (see conductor note below).

AV and Presentation Equipment

Conference rooms, lecture theatres, and presentation spaces frequently require network connections at distances exceeding 10 m — for display systems, media players, or video-conferencing units positioned away from wall ports. A 15 m run delivers full Gigabit throughput to these devices without signal degradation, and the black PVC jacket integrates cleanly into professional AV installations.

A Note on Conductor Material and PoE Suitability

This cable uses copper clad aluminium (CCA) rather than solid bare copper. At 15 m, the increased resistance of CCA has no measurable impact on Gigabit Ethernet data performance, and the Fluke-tested certification confirms compliance with Cat 6 transmission parameters at this length. However, CCA is not suitable for Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications — the higher resistance of aluminium generates excess heat under sustained power delivery and reduces efficiency compared to solid copper. For PoE-powered devices such as IP cameras, wireless access points, or VOIP phones, a solid copper Cat 6 cable is the correct choice regardless of run length.
